Kinnaur
Overview
Kinnaur is a tribal district on the old Hindustan–Tibet road, bordering Tibet. It is known for the Kinnaur Kailash peak sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists, the apple and chilgoza pine orchards of Kalpa, and the green Sangla (Baspa) valley ending at the border village of Chitkul.

The last inhabited village on the old Indo-Tibet road in the Baspa valley, at about 3,450 m, known for its wooden houses, temple and river meadows.

A small lake beside the mud-brick village of Nako in upper Kinnaur, at about 3,660 m, ringed by poplars and close to a group of old Buddhist temples.

An old Kinnauri village above Reckong Peo at about 2,960 m, ringed by apple orchards and facing the snow wall of the Kinnaur Kailash range.
Sangla
Baspa Valley
The main village of the Baspa (Sangla) Valley at about 2,650 m, with the wooden Kamru Fort above it, trout in the river and terraced apple orchards.
