About
Bhagsu falls sits about 2 km from McLeod Ganj, above the Bhagsunag Shiva temple and a stone bathing tank. A paved path lined with cafés leads to the lower pool in about 20 minutes; a steeper track continues towards Shiva Café and on to Dharamkot. The falls are full and loud from July to September and can slow to a trickle by late spring. It is an easy outing rather than a wilderness spot, and gets crowded on weekends.
How to reach
- Walk or take an auto from McLeod Ganj to Bhagsu village.
- From the Bhagsunag temple, follow the marked path uphill to the falls.
- The path continues to Shiva Café and Dharamkot for a longer loop.
Best time to visit
Just after the monsoon (September–October) for full flow with clearer skies. Winter is quiet and cold; late spring can be disappointingly dry.
Things to know
- The rocks near the pool are slippery — take care if you go in.
- Cafés on the path are pricier than in McLeod Ganj.
- Combine it with Bhagsunag temple and the walk up to Dharamkot.
